One huge change that Resident Evil 4 made from its predecessors was the inclusion of a mysterious merchant character. When fighting enemies and exploring the game’s environments, the player would come across money that they could exchange for items, weapons, and upgrades when interacting with this merch
Yes, rapidly pressing buttons during a cutscene to dodge lasers or Tensu Run vs Inquisitors away from a boulder is a clear holdover from the 2005 – 2010 game design zeitgeist, where irritating QTEs would bring players to a game over screen if they put their controllers down to grab a drink during a cutscene. These events are more annoying than they are challenging, and are best left beh
Another Wii U game that was ported to the Switch, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is not only a phenomenal platformer by any metric but also one of the best entries in Nintendo’s legendary franchise. Retro Studios, a Nintendo subsidiary, handled the game’s development, building nicely on its work on 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns . Tropical Freeze controls incredibly well, although it does feel fairly different from most other platformers on the market; consequently, newcomers to the series should be prepared for a learning cu
The larger development team makes sense given the length of the game compared to RE 2 and RE3 , and supports additional leaks that Resident Evil 4 would have an “expanded story.” According to Twitter user AestheticGamer1, another known source for leaks with a good reputation in the industry, RE4 Remake will focus on expanding the story of the original game and players can expect to see more and larger changes than anything done in RE2 or RE3 . One example given related to the character Dr Salvador, who is said to be getting more screentime and an expanded backstory in the RE4 rema
Nintendo Labo is fun for all ages and is as simple or complex as the player’s imagination. By setting up the controllers on various bits of cardboard, players get a level of immersion they’d ordinarily need VR to harness. Ultimately, this release is difficult to recommend since it is the definition of an acquired taste, despite being fairly accessible as an idea. While certainly fun, Labo is also one of those concepts that can grow old quic
That said, Super Mario Maker 2 is still a must-own for anyone who loves 2D Mario, particularly if they enjoy creating levels. Those who do not want to take part in that process can enjoy a few pre-installed stages and creations crafted by other us
As a VR enthusiast, it’s hard to understand why the Oculus Quest 2 still hasn’t hit critical mass. It’s not a matter of cost: the Quest 2 is half the price of the PS5 and Xbox Series X and less than a third of a 30-series GPU, and unlike all of those, is widely available. It’s not due to a lack of content either. There are hundreds of games on the Oculus store, and at least a dozen I would consider must-plays. There are even more if you have a decent computer to link to, like Half-Life: Alyx , Star Wars Squadrons, and my personal favorite, Insomniac’s Stormland. I don’t think it’s an accessibility issue either – at least not for the vast majority of potential VR players. Resolution and high refresh rates have virtually eliminated the disorientation of early VR, and even if you’re especially squeamish, every game has plenty of settings built in that help eliminate any discomfort. If you ask me, the Quest 2 ought to be as ubiquitous as the equally-priced Nintendo Switch, but as of this past July, the Quest 2 has only sold four million units to the Switch’s
Nintendo has built up a cast of beloved supporting characters, so expand upon them and make them matter. Age of Calamity did a solid job of this, although I wasn’t a fan of its more eccentric approach to storytelling – still, it’s a good blueprint to follow if the overall tone is given a few much-needed adjustments. Breath of the Wild was so compelling because of the mystery that defined it, each hesitant step into its sprawling world rewarding us with riches and a freeform experimentation in gameplay that nothing in the open world genre has been able to match since. It’s a marvel, and something the sequel should build upon as opposed to replicating with only a few key changes.
Now that it has been revealed that the Nemesis parasite has origins or links to the Las Plagas parasite, it’s certainly possible that the Las Plagas parasites also helped create the G-Virus, which has many inclusions in various Resident Evil games. This more closely sews the Resident Evil 4 storyline strongly into the fabric of the Resident Evil universe and its hist
Aside from this, the storytelling in Breath of the Wild is very much what you make of it. If you’ve played the game before, you’ll know that Link has access to a number of cryptic photographs on his Sheikah Slate that represent locations spread across the open world. You are given no map icons or hints as to where these places are, you simply need to look at the images and work things out for yourself. It’s a wondrous journey of discovery, and providing us with nuggets of narrative as opposed to temporary rewards makes seeking them out all the more satisfying. I love this approach, but mostly for what it represents as opposed to how it contributes to the game’s overall pacing.
